Lock reports of the Everglades drainage canals, 1914-1920.

This series contains the weekly lock reports, 1914-1920, for the Everglades drainage canals. The reports were kept by the lock tenders for the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund. The information in the reports includes the date; the name, length, and class of the boat; the charges; the kind and approximate amount of cargo; and the destination. The series also contains some correspondence regarding the protests of toll payments.

The Everglades Drainage District was established in 1913 (Ch. 6456, 1913 Laws) for the purpose of draining and reclaiming lands located near the Everglades for agricultural and sanitary purposes.
